Write for us

If you are interested in writing a guest post for seotakeaways then please review our guest post guidelines. This is to ensure that your post gets published. The last thing we want you to do is to spend a ton of time and resources on writing a blog post that does not meet our editorial guidelines:

1. Topic - The article should be related to web analytics, usability, conversion optimization or testing. We don’t accept articles on any other topics.

2. Primary Requirement – The article must be easy to understand, original (not published elsewhere, not plagiarized/reworded and ideally not being talked about at all) and must provide useful and actionable takeaway(s) that the readers can start using straight away. This is the primary requirement for guest post approval.

3.Title/Headline is the most important part of the article. Make sure that your title gets people to click on it.  The title should ideally make a promise of gain to the readers and should not be more than 70 characters long.

4. Introduction – After the killer title, it is the introduction which should really make a reader wants to continue on and read the entire blog post. The introduction should ideally be 4 or 5 lines long and must explain the benefit of reading the rest of the article.

5. Main Body – This is the area of the article which provides value to the readers. Write the main body for skimmers. People don’t read the articles on the web, they skim them. Break up your article into several small paragraphs. Use bullet points/numbered list wherever possible.

6. Sub-Headlines – If your text is longer than 250 words then consider using sub-headline. The sub-headlines make it easy to refer to any part of the article and they also help in improving the readability.

7. Visuals – use visuals wherever possible in your article. The visuals can be photographs, artwork, charts, graphs, videos, diagrams, slide decks etc. Please make sure that all the visuals you use are original and that you have the permission/copyright to use such visuals.

8. Formatting – use bold/italics to emphasize important points in your article. If you don’t have important points then we have got a bigger problem here.

9. Tone – People prefer conversational tone over lectures. Consider using the word ‘you’ and ‘I’ instead of ‘we’ in your article. You don’t need to be too formal in your blog post. Avoid using slangs wherever possible.

10. Content Length – Though there is no hard and fast rule on the article length but when you write really useful and actionable post, it is going to be detailed and hence lengthy. Moreover content length affects traffic and social sharing. Detailed contents also tend to rank well on Google.

11. Summary- End your article by concluding what you are trying to explain and what the readers can take away from your post.

12. Links and anchor text – There is no hard and fast rule on the number of links you can embed in your article. However please make sure that the link you embed and the anchor text you use is relevant to the article. The links and anchor text should not be used in such a way that it makes the article looks spammy. Needless to mention, keywords stuffing and writing article just for search engines is not allowed.
